Sweet Love Bird Baby Shower for Nicole

My friend, Sherry, and I hosted a baby shower for another good friend, Nicole, this past weekend. Sherry and I had a great time working on shower, but I'm glad we finished before my baby's arrival(which I'm now waiting impatiently for).

Sherry made this adorable Love tree with lighted branches from Ben Franklin. We hung notes of love and encouragement from the branches for Nicole's twin daughters, who are currently residing in a local NICU. They were born at 29 weeks, but have been growing in leaps and bounds and will hopefully get to come home soon.

Sherry covered the vase with coordinating scrapbook paper. We used the Razzleberry line from Stampin Up. I made the note cards on my Big Shot (my Christmas present from Dave).

Here are the yummy cupcakes, chocolate of course. I got the cupcake topper image from an Etsy seller, and I thought they turned out great.
Sherry made this beautiful sign out of more Razzleberry paper and some Maya Road bird embellishments.
Here's a view of the food and drink tables in my dining room. The shower was held at 10am, so we had a lot of brunch food, which is Nicole's favorite.
I made the birdhouses with scrapbook paper and small birds I glittered myself. Sherry made the small tree out of found sticks and three little birds, signifying Nicole's three daughters. It was super cute!
Sherry put together this adorable diaper cake for Nicole. I made the two lovebirds on the top of the diaper cake based on a tutorial from http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/
I think they turned out pretty well.

Here's Nicole opening some baby gifts. I can't believe how great she looks after having twins only a couple months ago.
Here's Jordan, Nicole's oldest daughter, and Sophie enjoying their cupcakes outside. Here's all the girls who made it out to the party. We had so much fun chatting, eating, and opening presents.
We ordered the favor cookies from Hokulani Bake Shop in downtown Honolulu. I think they did a great job, and the cookies are super yummy.
I just wanted to share a photo of our party aftermath. The lovely Duncan, our Border Terrier, managed to get onto the dining room table later that day and help himself to about five cupcakes. He is fine, but he managed to make a big mess. He also removed the paper cupcake toppers before he consumed the cupcakes. Just another reminder to make sure all the chairs are tucked in before leaving the house. It was a great party and I hope everyone had a great time.

Feb. 14, 2010 - Our Un-Valentine's Day

I know everyone the world over is celebrating Valentine's Day on Feb. 14, but not the Edgertons. Dave wasn't ready to celebrate today, seeing as he's halfway across the world, so we're postponing our celebration until he gets back. That means we'll open gifts and cards in a week or so. Sophie did get to open her card from Grandma Mickey (because she was at our house) and Sophie loves opening mail. We went to Mass this morning with my Mom and then took Sophie to the park. I'm having a little trouble keeping Sophie quiet at church and we ended up outside a couple times for a little time out. I'm hoping she gets the memo pretty soon that she can't shout during the Homily, but I'm doubting it.

I'm not quite sure what Sophie's pouting about here, but she's doing a great job. If anyone knew me as a child, you'll know that Sophie comes by the pouting honestly.
Here I am at 37 weeks pregnant. This is the dress I wore to my baby shower, I'll have to try and dig up a photo of that so we can compare.

Sophie has the most expressive face, and I swear I could watch her all day.
I think she looks so much like Dave.

I'll try to update next week about our Valentine's Day, I'm also hosting a baby shower, so I might add some photos of that.

Superbowl Sunday and some Dive Photos

Most of you know Dave took up Scuba Diving last year. He LOVES it. In fact, that's where you can find him most weekends. I'm cool with it, because I told him after the baby arrives he has to take a Scuba break for a couple months. He's also been traveling to Guam quite a bit in the last year and he dives there on a regular basis. These are a couple photos from his last business trip to Guam =).

We had my parents over for the game on Superbowl Sunday. I made El Fuego Chili (recipe courtesy of Dave's Mom, Missy) and while I was in and out of our pantry, Sophie decided to go "shopping". Here she is choosing an item off the shelf.

Then she would take whatever she chose outside...

And put it in her car. She ended up with a box of Bisquick, some tomato juice, a box of rice, and some Pringles.

After tubby time Sophie put on one of her princess skirts (dress up clothes she got for her birthday) and hung out in her baby doll crib. She actually spends a fair amount of time in here, playing with one of her dolls, singing, talking to herself. She's a little big and she refuses to put her dolls in the crib to sleep, but at least she's getting some use out of it.

Elmo Sing

Sophie received this Elmo for her 2nd birthday and he's been a constant companion. Here they are hanging out in her baby doll crib.

Mommy Fail...

I have never professed to be the perfect anything. I'm especially not a perfect mother. I'm pretty good, but some days Sophie eats McDonalds, or has Cinnamon Toast for dinner, or "helps" me garden...

That used to be a basil plant on our covered lanai, but while I was talking on the phone and not being as attentive as I should have been, Sophie decided to un-plant it. We're sorry to see it go, and after such suffering.
